The Sokueto Hondachi Wakizashi from Thaitsuki has a beautiful shishi theme which can be found throughout the koshirae. The shishi is a lion dog that has magical powers.
The Sokueto Hondachi is handforged, handmade, differentially hardened and comes with with beautiful silver koshirae. The blade has a unokubi zukuri suguta (design) and has a qualitatively finish on all fronts. The differential hardening through water has caused the hamon and the blade is fully handpolished.
Beautifully finished koshirae with silver accents, the fuchi and kashira show the shishi (lion dog) and you can also see the shishi on the blackened copper tsuba. The Ito on the tsuka is made of white ivory Japanese silk on top of the black ray skin, the silver shishi menuki comes out nicely on this.
Everything is secured with two mekugi ana (bamboo pins) so that the handle is removable.
The seppa are also made of silver and everything exudes a high mounting quality. The habaki have an engraved mon theme on both sides in the Mitsu Hana style.
It is a shinken, so sharp blade with notare hamon and chu-kissaki.
This wakizashi slides smoothly and with the correct resistance smoothly into the black-lacquered saya and stops against the buffherhoorn koiguchi.
The Sokueto Hondachi wakizashi is a fully functional Japanese katana and not a replica of any kind. It is considered a weapon and it is extremely sharp. This sword can easily cut a 10 cm thick fresh bamboo with a single stroke.
