The liuyedao was used by both infantry and cavalry riders and because of its moderate length it was a versatile weapon.

In traditional Chinese martial arts, it is also a widely used sword and various schools of Chinese martial arts have included the liuyedao in their curriculum.

The blade is moderately curved and has a cut with a large cutting force on one side.

This Dao is hand-forged from 1095 high carbon steel and hardened to create a very hard but forgiving leaf.  Suitable for chopping and cutting exercises.
