Rivier Witham Sword

€289.00
An original and battle-ready River Witham
Sword from hanwei made for sword fighting
and ideal for re-enactment.
Quantity

The original sword was found in 1788 while digging the Witham river near Lincoln in eastern England. It presumably dates from the 13th century.

The blade is made from carbon steel (AISI 1566) and is sharpened. The blade has the following engraving: +NDXOXCHMDRCHDXORVI+ .

The blade is forged through to the hilt and is riveted to the pommel. This is not really a decoration sword, since it can certainly be used for swordplay.

The blade is sharpened however. This is an ideal weapon for reenactors who want a sword that looks original.

Delivery includes a leather-wound, wooden scabbard.
