A purple Fukusa for judging a Nihonto or Japanse Sword. 


Originally the Fukusa was also used in the traditional tea ceremony. When handling a Nihonto or authentic Japanese sword this also become an important aspect for the purpose of assessing whether viewing. This is mainly because you do not want to damage the Nihonto and treat the Nihonto with respect.

An old Japanese ritual is that guest brought the Fukusa as a sign of spiritual presence.

In a Kantei  session of a Nihonto, it is mainly used to observe up close to the blade. It also is important that the Nihonto never will be touched with bare hands, the Fukusa is necessary. This is a purple Fukusa.
