Last Samurai Katana

The John Lee forge wanted to make this sword a tribute to the film “The Last Samurai”.

The film is set in the transition period between the old shogunate in Edo and the Meij period. The samurai class did not want to accept the new political situation and would lose their status and position in society. They did not want to accept this and that is why major uprisings arose.

The samurai tradition ended with the Satsuma Rebellion in 1877.

The blade has a hand-forged carbon steel blade with a hamon and is differentially hardened in a traditional way.

Equipped with a bo-hi or groove to create a lighter and more agile sword. The tsuka or handle is made of real shagreen and the tang is secured with two mekugi.

Wrapped with black cotton ito for a good grip.

The wooden saya is lacquered with glossy black lacquer and fitted with a sageo.

A John Lee certificate, display stand and maintenance kit.
