Chrysantheum Katana
The Chrysantheum Katana by Kaizen Sword Art is a traditionally crafted samurai katana featuring a refined choji hamon, artisanal hand polishing and a perfect balance between aesthetics and cutting performance.
Chrysantheum Katana
The Chrysantheum Katana from the Samurai series by Kaizen Sword Art is a tribute to one of the most meaningful symbols within Japanese samurai culture: the chrysanthemum. This imperial emblem stood for honor, loyalty and spiritual purity — values inseparably linked to the samurai and his katana. This sword embodies that centuries-old relationship in steel, form and function.
The blade is traditionally hand-forged from high-quality 1095 carbon steel and differentially hardened with clay. This classic Japanese process creates a clear and vivid midare choji hamon, visible along the cutting edge and an unmistakable hallmark of authentic craftsmanship. The hamon is enhanced through careful hand polishing, allowing the natural lines and depth of the steel to fully emerge. The result is a sharp functional Japanese sword with excellent hardness, resilience and cutting performance.
The shinogi-zukuri blade style with bohi combines traditional elegance with reduced weight and improved balance. The bohi produces a clear tachikaze during cutting and supports smooth, controlled handling. With a nagasa of 74.84 cm (2.47 shaku) and a subtle sori, this traditional katana offers a harmonious balance of speed, precision and reach.
The Ryugo-style tsuka measures 27.5 cm and is built around a full-tang construction. The core is covered with genuine white ray skin (same), providing structural stability and grip. The very tightly wrapped green Japanese cotton ito sits comfortably in the hand and offers maximum control. Two mekugi secure the blade firmly in the handle, fully in accordance with traditional Japanese standards.
The mounting is refined and harmonious. The tsuba, fuchi and kashira are carefully selected to subtly support the chrysanthemum theme, while the silver-colored habaki and seppa provide a classic finish. The saya is finished in deep green with kuroro koiguchi and buffalo horn details, complemented by a black Japanese sageo for a restrained and elegant appearance.
