Musashi Katana

The Musashi Katana from the Samurai series by Kaizen Sword Art is a tribute to one of the most legendary sword masters in Japanese history. Miyamoto Musashi embodied the essence of the samurai: discipline, simplicity, and mastery without unnecessary embellishment. This katana translates that philosophy into a powerful and refined sword fully focused on functionality and tradition.

The blade is hand-forged from high-quality 1095 carbon steel and undergoes a traditional clay tempered heat treatment. This classical process results in a vivid and organic midare choji hamon, visible along the cutting edge and a hallmark of authentic Japanese sword craftsmanship. The result is a sharp functional Japanese sword with excellent edge retention, resilience, and long-lasting cutting performance.

The shinogi-zukuri blade style without bohi adds extra mass and stability during the cut, while the subtle sori of approximately 1.5 cm supports a natural cutting angle. With a nagasa of 74.84 cm (2.47 shaku), this traditional katana offers an ideal balance between reach, control, and maneuverability—exactly what Musashi himself would have appreciated.

The Ryugo-style tsuka, measuring 28 cm, is built around a full-tang construction and finished with genuine black ray skin (same). The extremely tight wrap of ivory-white Japanese silk ito provides a secure, comfortable grip and optimal control with every movement. Two mekugi firmly anchor the construction for maximum reliability.

The understated aesthetic is enhanced by carefully selected mountings: a classic tsuba, matching fuchi/kashira, and subtle menuki. The silver-colored habaki and seppa perfectly complement the sober, functional character. The katana is supplied with a black saya featuring a kuroro koiguchi and buffalo horn details, finished with an ivory-colored Japanese sageo.
