The Hsu Miao Dao (Corn Leaf Saber) is a two-handed Dao that was mainly used during China's Republican period. The sabre is very quick and weighs approx. 800 grams. The name Miao Dao means 'tendril sabre', this refers to the shape of young plants. The weapon occurs in the styles of piguaquan and tongbeiquan, even though just few modern Chinese martial art schools train their pupils to use the Miao Dao. The grip is bound in rattan to avoid slipping.
This beautiful Hsu Miao Dao is handmade, even the smallest details. It is 110 cm long with a 77 cm blade and a 32 cm grip. It weighs approx. 800 grams.
