Kanji Katana
Kanji Katana by Kaizen Sword Art. Handcrafted 1095 steel katana with hamon. Sharp, functional Japanese sword.
Kanji Katana
The Kanji Katana from the Kaizen Sword Art Ashigaru series is designed with one clear purpose: uncompromising cutting performance. This handcrafted katana combines traditional Japanese swordsmithing with carefully engineered geometry, perfectly suited for intensive tatami tameshigiri and serious practitioners.
The blade is hand-forged from high-quality 1095 carbon steel and clay tempered using traditional methods. This process produces a strong and clearly visible Sanbonsugi-style hamon, a hallmark of authentic Japanese sword craftsmanship. The result is a sharp, functional Japanese sword with excellent edge retention, resilience, and control.
The shinogi-zukuri blade geometry without bohi adds extra mass and stability during the cut, while the subtle sori of approximately 1.9 cm ensures a smooth and natural cutting motion. With a nagasa of 74.84 cm (2.47 shaku), this katana achieves an ideal balance between reach and maneuverability.
The 27.5 cm Ryugo-style tsuka features genuine black ray skin (same) and a very tightly wrapped brown cotton ito, secured with two mekugi for maximum safety. Every component is deliberately chosen to enhance grip, control, and confidence with every cut.
Its understated yet powerful appearance is completed by carefully selected fittings: a classic sukashi tsuba, kanji-themed fuchi/kashira, subtle menuki, and matching brass habaki and seppa. The katana is supplied with a black saya and matching brown sageo, perfectly complementing its functional character.
