The Cold Steel Recon 1 is an almost indestructible pocket knife that has meanwhile earned its stripes generously. Of all the pocket knives on the market, the Tri-Ad-Lock from Cold Steel is one of the very strongest. This pocket knife is therefore ideal for people who require a lot of their tools.

The blade of CPM S35VN steel is finished with a black DLC coating. This helps prevent rust. In the long term, it is inevitable that the coating will wear out somewhat as a result of use. This gives the knife a unique drawing. CPM S35VN is a pleasant stainless steel grade that retains its sharpness well. Fortunately, it is also sharpening itself.

You open the blade with the thumb rest. When open, the Tri-Ad-Lock keeps the blade neatly in place. The Tri-Ad-Lock is a modern incarnation of the classic backlock as it has been made for decades. Designer Andrew Demko has taken that familiar block and has made a sturdy stop pin and a larger hinge hole for the spring. This pin captures all the upward force of cutting and through the larger hole the spring has more room to absorb blows and loads. This has made it a more robust, almost self-correcting system.

The handle is made of G10. This is a lightweight material that is extremely strong. Because of the way Cold Steel has processed it, it is also enormously grievous. It almost sticks to your hand during use. To carry it safely with you, a pocket clip is fitted as standard. A second pocket clip is supplied for left-handed use. This knife is, because of the locking and opening mechanism, just as useful for left-handed people as it is for right-handed people.

You can easily open the Recon 1 with one hand. With the pocket clip you can safely carry it in your pocket. A second pocket clip for left-handed people is supplied as standard. Because the opening and locking are symmetrical, this knife is just as well available for left-handed people as for right-handed people.
